OPPORTUNITIES

BECOME A BOARD MEMBER

Our mission is to provide services to all who need them, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or race. To truly serve, our Board of Directors must reflect the diversity of our clients. We are delighted to announce that we are currently asking for volunteers to interview for several new positions on our Board. Do you have experience in accounting, business, non-profit management, healthcare, legal services, social work, program coordination, counseling, health and wellness, or education? Then you may be able to impact your community only positively.

Volunteer Case Worker

Are you bilingual or trilingual? Do you speak Farsi, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, French, or another language? Our volunteer case workers provide essential translation services for needs assessment and client intake in our Social Services clinic. Your talent and experience can be used to give deserving families a voice that they would not otherwise have. Is there anything more powerful than giving a voice to the voiceless? Volunteer to be a translator/case worker! No prior experience is necessary; you are given everything you need to make an enormous difference in the lives of families who are new to our community.

VOLUNTEER PHYSICIAN, PA, or Nurse Practitioner

Al-Shifa Clinic has provided amazing care to our deserving community since 1998. How much more amazing would it be if you could help us in fulfilling this aspect of our vital mission? Whatever level of professional medical license you hold, we can use your talents! We invite you to participate from the options that are available to help protect the health of your community.

Volunteer Dentists and Dental Assistants

Volunteer dentists and dental assistants are needed to help us staff our Dental Clinic. We offer primary dental care, such as dental prophylaxis, basic fillings and crowns, and pain management. Your education and experience can provide a critical service to your community, preventing much needless illness and suffering to those who could not otherwise afford vital dental care.

Volunteer Mental Health Professional

If you are a mental health professional, you already know how valuable your services are. Now our community is also dealing with the trauma caused by the recent pandemic. Your expertise could be a lifeline for our community members who live daily with food insecurity, job loss, domestic violence, and trauma! Please consider volunteering as a counselor, therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist for our Counseling Clinic. If interested, Student Internships are also available.

BECOME AN INTERN

MCC offers multicultural Counseling and Social Work internships for students enrolled in the field work phases of these professional degrees and certifications. Currently, student placements from UT-Arlington, UNT-Dallas, Amberton University-Garland, and TWU-Denton are accepted. If you or your university are interested in multicultural Counseling or Social Work internship, please reach out to us.

BECOME A community Education Speaker

Our Community Education program is up and running, with a number of new programs beginning soon! With the help of our talented volunteers, we currently have a slate of monthly presentations and weekly classes coming up soon. These programs cover nutrition and wellness, family mental health, parenting issues, and conversational ESL, as well as support groups for teens, singles, and divorced spouses. Do you have the desire to teach and to give back to your community? What is your area of expertise? Beside health and wellness topics, so-called “survival skills” in many areas are actually vital community education subjects. Just a few examples are basic personal finances, resume writing, job search strategies, and tax preparation. If interested, please complete our volunteer form so we can follow up with you about the possibilities open to you.
